It all started when…

The Ensemble Pretiosa has been founded in 2017 consists of young professionals who studied Early Music at Trossingen University of Music. Trained in the musical language of the 17th- and 18th-century, we perform precious works of the baroque era which have probably not been performed for centuries. We focus on pieces for voices and instruments, which have been passed on in single sources only, like the Düben Collection or the Collection Staatsbibliothek Berlin. Our concert programmes are characterized by a diversity of musical line-ups and cover the polyphonic works of late baroque as well as the concentrated, highly virtuosic music of early baroque. The ensemble sees itself as a collective of confident musical personalities with the aspiration of reaching excellence in their performance. The vocalists and instrumentalists of the ensemble can look back on national and international concert and stage experiences in different contexts.

In 2018 the Ensemble Pretiosa has been awarded the title IYAP Selected Promising Ensemble of the festival Laus Polyphoniae Antwerp, inter alia for the rediscovery and performance of cantatas of Christian Ritter and Christian Geist which have not been performed for the last 300 years. In June 2019 a core of singers and instrumentalists of the ensemble have participated in the production In stile rappresentativo. Ein Monteverdi-Pasticcio as soloists (Link: In stile rappresentativo). This production was a part of the 1. Baden-Württembergisches Opernschultreffen of the University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart and took place in the Wilhelma-Theater Stuttgart. Current achievements of the ensemble include the invitation to the final round of the Förderpreis Alte Musik 2020 of the Saarländischer Rundfunk (“Saarland Broadcast”, Germany), which has been postponed to 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Supraregional and international concerts round off the activities of the ensemble. Please feel free to contact us for our sources and transcriptions.
